nVidia GeForce GTS 250 and 240 to Make Its Debut at Cebit 2009
At Cebit 2009 nVidia will be debuting the mid and low range of their 200 series graphic cards. The G92 Series will be officially renamed next month on the first Tuesday of March when Cebit 2009 opens.
The GeForce GTS 250 will carry over the same specs and features of 9800 GTX+, and the same GPU, memory, board, PCB, and thermal solution. Expressview has learned that in fact, GeForce GTS 250 graphics card is exactly the same as 9800GTX+. The only thing that nVidia has given change to, is updating the BIOS and change the packing.
The 8800GT (9800GT) will also be renamed to the GTS 240, without an announcement. With the GTS 240 it nvidia will have a card in the 200 line to compete with Radeon HD4850.
With the naming change it can go either way for consumers. General buyers will see a newer model and think it is the next cheap greatest thing, but the enthusiast will think otherwise. With this being the 3rd naming re-hash for the G80 (8800 was renamed to 9800), we wonder if there is another in the future. Let’s hope not.
